Recipe Box: The Naked Vegetable Dinner

NY Daily News reported: Allure magazine’s upcoming issue is all about looking better naked! And they got some pretty big names to strip down for the cameras… “Glee’s Naya Rivera, “Nashville” star Clare Bowen, and “Cougar Town” actress Christa Miller, just to name a few.

This means bathing suits, short shorts, & trying to slim down & tone up as best you can. Allure magazine only sets this season in stone with their “Look Better Naked” issue. It seems like every woman is focused on getting that toned beachbod. But as a woman who has struggled with body issues her entire life, I refused to let this summer get me down! In my last post I talked briefly about the Paleo Diet & my attempt at making a life change when it came to my diet. I did it NOT to lose weight, but just to be healthier & do things the right way for once. I just wanted to prove to myself that I can stick to something. It has been a week… but to my surprise these 7 days have flown by! I have been able to express myself through my food & be creative with what I make. I want to go into this bathing suit season happy & loving the body I have, just like the women that are featured in the “Look Better Naked” issue. So I was inspired to create a Paleo friendly meal that is guaranteed to make your body & tummy very happy! I call it The Naked Vegetable Dinner. (VIEW DETAILED RECIPE BELOW)

IMG_3376 The Naked Vegetable Dinner: I am a huge fan of pasta, cheese, red meat, basically anything that will clog my arteries & stop my heart. Any of my friends will tell you that I am either always eating or have the appetite of 3 sumo wrestlers after a competition…in case that made no sense I CAN EAT! And eat I do… I was blessed enough to be born with a fast metabolism. But with that came very poor diet choices, & now that my metabolism is catching up to me I am forced to make a change. I went in for an annual check up with my doctor last year & he told me that as a 21 year old, fairly skinny girl I had the cholesterol of a 65 year old man. Like I have said this paleo diet is for health reasons, but as a true foodie & lover of all things delicious I want to create recipes that are absolutely tasty, but still healthy. And after seeing some of the bodies in this Allure issue, it only motivated me more to stick with it!

As a lover of meat, I will be the first to tell you that I am skeptical of vegetarian dishes. I think that is why I was interested in the Paleo diet so much because you could eat meat. However, the asparagus in this dish has the texture and taste of smoky, delicious meat, without actually having to kill an animal! My second favorite food would be pasta… I just love my carbs! And that was the most difficult thing about this diet, NO PROCESSED of GLUTEN. So I was in search for a substitute that still had the same consistency, taste… & not only is spinach an amazing pasta substitute, I think it might even be better tasting then pasta! This meal is simple & easy, plus you won’t have to feel bad about having two servings! I encourage making this dinner in your best outfit, your birthday suit of course! 

Ingredients:

IMG_3375 1 bunch of asparagus
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of sea salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika

IMG_3379 1 carton of grape tomatoes
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of minced garlic
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 bag of spinach
1 teaspoon of grated parmesan cheese

1. Mix into a bowl the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices

2. Wash asparagus & lay on baking sheet, then spread oil mixture all over asparagus

3. Stick in 375 degree oven & broil for 15 minutes

4. Boil spinach in salt water for 5 minutes

5. Add grape tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, & oil into pot. Then let reduce.

6. Drain spinach & add sauce on top. Sprinkle parmesan cheese & serve.

Recipe Box: Jessica Alba I Want Your Bod Breakfast

Jessica Alba was recently photographed vacationing off the coast of St. Barths. It has been a while since we have seen Jessica out in public & did she make a statement! The gorgeous actress strutted her perfectly toned body out in the water like it was her job. You would never believe this woman is a mom! If you aren’t drooling yet here are a few more pictures to drench your pallette.

Image Jessica Alba I Want Your Bod: So like I said after drooling for a good twenty minutes at these photos of Jessica, I instantly wanted to get back into shape & make a change in my diet & fitness plan! I began researching certain healthy diet changes online. I came across “The Clean Diet” & “The Master Cleanse”, but the diet that really stuck out to me was “The Paleo Diet” also known as “The Hunter-Gatherer Diet.” This diet focuses on eating natural foods & going back to the dietary choices of the hunter gatherers. This means that all foods you must eat should be in its purest form, consisting of 3 natural ingredients or less. This means a lot of vegetables, fruits, lean meats. NO added sugar, salt, oils, or anything that consists of multiple ingredients. This immediately caught my attention! Also because after further reading, I found that this diet has been recommended to people suffering with diseases like cancer, diabetes, etc. Because making these simple diet choices can benefit your overall longterm health. So I decided to make a change…we will see how long this lasts. So in the hopes to get a Jessica Alba beach bod I created my first Paleo recipe. I thought I would start with breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day! This recipe is not only simple, but makes you just feel so much better after eating it. There is something about eating something healthy & having it affect how you feel for the rest of the day! 

Ingredients:

Image4 egg whites
1 cup of spinach
1 tablespoon of feta cheese
non stick canola oil spray
1 apple

Directions:

Image1. Set a pan on the stove & heat to medium

2. Spray some non-stick canola oil onto the pan

3. Pour egg whites into pan (cooking time approx. 4 mins)

4. After eggs are cooked add in spinach & feta cheese

5. Cut up apple & enjoy!

Image If that wasn’t the simplest freshly made breakfast recipe than I don’t know what is! And the amazing thing is that it is so flavorful & filling. You get the freshness from the spinach, but the tartiness from the cheese & both are combined with the fluffy egg whites. Then the apple for added crunch. So I do feel like I am starting off this Paleo diet strong and I will be sure to update recipes & let you know my progress!

Recipe Box: Amanda Bynes’ Murder My Tuna Pasta Salad

FOX News reports: During the past month, the “Hairspray” star has posted multiple pictures of herself in everything from blonde wigs to blue lipstick, and made a barrage of perplexing comments via Twitter such as “I want Drake to murder my vagina” and “it doesn’t matter what you think about yourself. All that matters is what your lover thinks of you.”

amanda-bynes-040813sp           Amanda Bynes has been making non-stop headlines it seems, & every week it appears that her behavior is becoming more & more bizarre! The most recent offense was when she was asked to leave a gymnastics class because she allegedly started crying after she did a cart wheel & her wig came off. She also has released statements online about her issues with her body image. She told Huffington Post, “I moved to New York and I love it! I lost 4 pounds since I moved. I am 121 pounds — my goal weight is 100.” And don’t even get me started about the Drake, murder my vagina tweet… Has Amanda Bynes officially gone crazy? Hard to say, but one thing I do know is something doesn’t smell right! She is either brilliant and acting out outrageous ways to keep everyone interested to see what she will do next or she has taken the quickest ticket to Crazytown! I can imagine that with how busy she is locking herself in dressing rooms & suing the paparazzi Bynes doesn’t have a lot of time to shower. And her new found fame and stench has inspired me to create an out of this world recipe for tuna pasta salad. (VIEW DETAILED RECIPE BELOW)

childstar5                     Amanda Bynes’ Murder My Tuna Pasta Salad: This recipe came to me yet again after a late night! …why do I get so hungry after most people go to bed? But my strange food habits are your gain because this recipe is easy but SO delicious! Anywho, I was looking up the Nickelodeon star’s twitter & just felt a sense of pity. Here was yet another child star who seems to be going down the shitter because of the fame. Her new look is not only drastic, but so ratchet/cheap looking. Maybe it’s just me, but after looking at her recent pictures I felt like you could see the sadness behind her eyes. It made me think of the homeless person you see in the corner, that is crying out for help silently. This got me thinking what is a super cheap easy meal that could fill up a homeless person’s starving belly. I got it! Tuna salad…and my mom always fed me well with pasta, so why not combine the two!

Ingredients:

1 can of tuna
1 1/2 cups of wheel shaped pasta
2 hard boiled eggs
1/3 cup of mayonaisse
1 tablespoon of sweet relish
2 tablespoons of mustard
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper

Directions:

1. Boil water in a pot & put the wheel pasta inside (cooktime approx. 12 minutes)

2. Open can of tuna & put in large bowl

3. Crack hard boiled eggs & mash with fork

4. Mix tuna, eggs, mayonaisse, mustard, relish, & seasoning together

5. Drain pasta & combine. Wait approx. 15 minutes for cooling & serve

The Perfect Pairing: Kim Kardashian & Ice Cream

Image TMZ Reported: Kim Kardashian has gained a reported 23 pounds since becoming impregnated with Kanye West’s love child. However, most tabloids have reported that her weight has spiked to over 200 pounds, which is due to Kim’s addiction to eating that she cannot quit.

Kim may have put on a few pounds recently due to her diet change, but what some people seem to forget is that she is HAVING A BABY! Of course her body is going to change, as well as her diet. A pregnant woman’s food cravings can not only be strange, but also so strong that it can cause severe mood swings. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to see a loco pregnant Kim. So please keep indulging your cravings Kim because a happy you is a happy us! But of all the foods we have seen Kim indulge in, the most spotted would have to be ice cream. These two a perfect pairing simply because they are a perfect pair. She clearly enjoys the frozen treat & the frozen treat loves her! I feel that pregnant ladies are off limits when it comes to weight comments. I don’t know maybe because THEY ARE GROWING A HUMAN INSIDE OF THEM! At least she isn’t craving pickles & peanut butter. Sometimes society forgets that celebrities are no different than ourselves. Kim is enjoying the treats of pregnancy & I fully support it! Recipe Box: Rihanna’s Guacamole of a Life

Perez Hilton reports: Rihanna’s concert in Winnipeg was delayed over 90 minutes because of an inspection conducted by border patrol. Her buses were pulled over and kept for further examination. It is believed that border patrol is to be blamed for making her fans wait…

Image           But this isn’t Rihanna’s first tardy performance. Last week she bummed out tons of fans when she appeared 4 hours late to a school charity performance. Was border patrol really to blame for this late arrival? Or is it something else? …Bad Gal RiRi has had a lot of stresses lately. She has been the talk of the town ever since she returned to the tatted arms of Chris Brown. And then she released her album, Unapologetic. Not to mention the hodge podge of touring events, photoshoots, and press interviews that she has had lately. Image           Rihanna’s Guacamole of a Life: This recipe was inspired one late night after ransacking my fridge for a midnight snack. I thought to myself “…hmmm garlic sounds good with avocados, why not add garlic powder as well.” I just poured, chopped and mixed. As I dunked my blue corn tortilla chips into the melting pot of ingredients I used to make guacamole, I thought the stresses in my life. And as I usually do, I began to compare my life to my current celebrity crush Rihanna. I thought if I felt stressed, I could only imagine what she was going through. I thought about how much she had changed in the last few years. What she had been through… how much she had grown… What her daily schedule is like now. And I came to the conclusion that everyone has something to say about some aspect of her life (i.e. her relationship, her body, her music, her instagram) but rarely do people look Rihanna’s life as a whole. All in all, it’s a pretty amazing life! She has won numerous awards, makes great pop music, and is able to live out the love life she always wanted… There are so many different flavors in her life, sour moments, creamy moments, and the moments that leave you with a bite! As I scraped my bowl for the last remnants of guacamole I knew a recipe was born. I created a guacamole recipe that took a little bit of everything I could find & combined them to create one amazing recipe of Rihanna’s Guacamole of a Life.

Ingredients:

3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
2 limes, juiced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 shallot, diced
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 clove garlic, minced

Directions:

Image1. In a large bowl place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat.

2. Drain, and reserve the lime juice, after all of the avocados have been coated.

3. Using a fork & knife add the salt & garlic powder and mash. Then, fold in the shallots, cilantro, & garlic.

4. Add 2 tablespoons of the reserved lime juice. Let sit at room temperature for 15 mins. & then serve.

Recipe Box: Melissa King’s Naked Banana Buttered Muffins

TMZ Reported: Former Ms. Teen USA – Delaware, Melissa King, has been asked to step down from her title after an amateur porn she had done years ago surfaced online. Melissa has released a statement denying that she is the girl in the adult film. But after BroBible.com released clips from the video…there was no denying that Melissa was the leading lady in the low budget film.

 Melissa King has gotten herself in quite the pickle…or should I say got quite the pickle inside of her? The former Ms. Teen USA – Delaware insists on denying rumors that she starred in a low budget adult film prior to winning her crown. I am sorry to say that the truth will always set you free Melissa. The adult film company released video footage of Melissa reading the contract and agreeing to the terms and conditions of the company. After this video was released online the Ms. USA organization asked for Melissa to turn in her crown & sash. This depressing story of dreams being crushed by a…well banana (pun intended) inspired me to make a delicious recipe of moist Banana/Cranberry muffins. So hopefully after baking this recipe, you & Melissa can get your fix without feeling too guilty! (VIEW DETAILED RECIPE BELOW)

         Melissa King’s Naked Banana Buttered Muffins: What inspired me to make this recipe? Well to be honest when I first heard about this story I was shocked that a pageant queen would have a background in the adult business… Okay who am I kidding, I wasn’t the least bit surprised. I immediately thought there goes another crown to be returned. But the second thought that popped into my head was as predictable as this story is, what would be a recipe that would not be… then I thought about my love of puns. I would have to do something with banana! Then it clicked, why not create a healthy recipe that would make a positive impact in people’s diet & possibly erase the emotional torture people would suffer from watching Melissa King’s $1,500 pornography!

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas, smashed

1 cup dried cranberries
3 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup melted butter
3/4 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F

2. In a large bowl mix in eggs, butter, vanilla extract and bananas using a wooden spoon

3. Fold in dry ingredients

4. Spray non-stick canola oil onto cupcake tray and place liners in molds

5. Using an ice-cream scoop, pour in batter to cupcake molds

6. Place dried cranberries on top of batter

7. Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool on rack for 15 minutes & then serve.

It seems like this is just yet another messup for Chris Brown…and by messup I mean obvious sign that he is an abusive, controlling, psycho boyfriend! So in light of Rihanna sticking by her man, I thought I would create a delicious but volatile recipe for Black and Blue Sliders. These mini cheeseburgers are a metaphor not only for Rihanna’s black & blue face when Chris Brown decided to go all UFC fighter on her, but it also represents Rihanna’s need to stick to someone that clearly is not healthy for her. Unfortunately when something is this good it’s hard to give it up! < — I am talking about my recipe here NOT their tumultuous relationship. But in Rihanna’s defense she did warn us… In “Half of Me”, one of the songs from her latest album, “Unapologetic”. Rihanna sings, “You saw the half of it, only the half of it…You know me everybody knows that I’m crazy. Sticks & stones never break me & I’m the type that don’t give a F***!”Well thanks for the heads up RiRi… Sticks & Stones may never break you, but Chris Brown’s fists will! Image          Rihanna’s Black & Blue Sliders: This recipe is just my funny attempt at a play on words & an excuse to make a delicious burger. In no way am I trying to make fun of a serious topic like domestic abuse! I just want to get that disclaimer out there before continuing onto the recipe. But with keeping in spirit of the mood…suggestions for serving this meal would be best served after a long night of drunken debotchery, maybe after your man comes home asking for what is apparently his!

Ingredients:

1 pound of freshly ground chuck (preferably with an 85 to 15% meat to fat ratio)
4 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of grill seasoning
3 slices of thick cut cooked bacon
5 ounces of crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup of thinly sliced onion
12 small burger buns of your choice

*feel free to add any burger condiments of your choice

Directions:

1. Place cold ground chuck into large bowl & chop bacon into little pieces.

2. Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the chopped bacon, & 1 teaspoon of grill seasoning into meat.

3. Preheat the grill to medium-high.

4. Place thinly sliced onions and 2 tablespoons or olive oil in a small foil boat.

5. Set the foil boat on the grill to start cooking.

6. Using an ice-cream scooper roll out 12 uniform meat patties.

7. Put the patties on the grill & cook to desired temperature.

8. After cooked to desired temperature, remove patties and sprinkle on a tablespoon of blue cheese to every burger.

9. Add desired condiments & bun & then serve.
